Connecticut State Department of Education Arts Webpage
The Connecticut State Department of Education is the administrative arm of the Connecticut State Board of Education. Through leadership, curriculum, research, planning, evaluation, assessment, data analyses and other assistance, the Department helps to ensure equal opportunity and excellence in education for all Connecticut students. The Department is responsible for distributing funds to the state’s 166 school districts. The Department also operates the Connecticut Technical High School System.
The Arts Education Partnership (AEP) is a national coalition of arts, education, business, philanthropic and government organizations that demonstrate and promote the essential role of the arts in the learning and development of every child and in the improvement of America's schools. AEP was founded and is supported by the National Endowment for the Arts and U. S. Department of Education in cooperation with the Council of Chief State School Officers and the National Assembly of State Arts Agencies. Together they are the Governance Committee of AEP.
MENC is the world's largest arts education organization and the only association that addresses all aspects of music education. More than 130,000 members represent all levels of teaching from preschool to graduate school. Since 1907, MENC has worked to ensure that every student has access to a well-balanced, comprehensive, and high-quality program of music instruction taught by qualified teachers.

Connecticut Music Educators Association, CMEA is the federated state organization for MENC, The National Association for Music Education which represents the profession of music education in the United States. The Association plays an important role through its encouragement and support of the highest musical standards in our school programs. The All-State and Regional Festivals, the CMEA Fall Elementary Conference, the All-State In-Service Conference, the CMEA News magazine, and a grant program for members are some of the ways that the Connecticut Music Educators Association continues to fulfill its commitment of more than a half century to music education in our state.
